Irate residents of Abeka Lapaz, a suburb of Accra on January 21, 2013 blocked the George Walker Highway after a car knocked a school girl and killed her instantly. The angry residents used stumps, cement blocks and stones to block road, creating a huge traffic jam from Lapaz to Achimota overhead bridge and also Lapaz to Kwashieman. The police had to fire warning shots to bring the situation under control. Three people were arrested in the process after series of confrontations with the police. Photos by David Andoh.

When the law is disregarded into superfluous levels, ordinary citizens take the law into their hands. Next, they will be lynching speeding drivers. Kangaroo justice. That's Ghana for you!
